  • Thors comment

"This is my interpretation of the "nanban" style of pots, but in grey clay with a blue rim, that is favoured as pots for liiterati/bunjin style of trees, especially pines. But I see it also very suitable for a kusamono. Nanban was originally primitive jar lids imported to japan where they drilled holes in them. Therefore I have wheelthrown this piece and made no feets (bottom is concave). there is also no wiring holes, since I wanted to stay true to the original style."

About the edition "by the Ocean”

"Where hard meets soft, dry meets wet. Where the thin line, that has no matter, appears wich we have learned to know as "coast". At this edge of the knife, where the crystals of the rocks emit grey and brown, and the ocean reflects the blue sky, is where the magic happens. I would like to dedicate this edition to the ocean, wich my ancestors learned to master."
