Edition: August 2021 - Castle by the sea
Clay: Granite gray
Glazed and fully vitrified frost resistant stoneware
My goal with this unusually large pot was to get a rust red color against gray granite, as the rocks by the sea look like where the iron fittings are inserted to hold the ropes to the ships. Pots of this size are difficult to obtain. Partly because they crack more easily during drying and firing, but also because there are few potters who have a kiln big enough to fire them in. I myself do not have room for such a large kiln in my workshop, but I am lucky enough to be able to rent one. Unfortunately it is halfway to Norway and I have to stay accommodated for three days while the kiln runs. Therefore I only fire this size of pots 1-2 times a year and then usually pre-orders.

THOR´S COMMENT ABOUT THE EDITION - "Castle by the sea"
"Along the Swedish and Norwegian west coast, we have many stone castles from the Middle Ages that watch over narrow straits, brood inside the deep bays, or stand far out on skerries and headlands where they are whipped by the wild Atlantic. Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by its massive walls and how they seem to merge with the bedrock they stand on, filled with narrow dark passages and dungeons. A year ago, I came up with the idea for a pot design that could integrate these castles, I named it "Borg". This summer I returned to that same theme again, but this time I include the blue sea and the waterways the castles watch over. To Marstrand, Älvsborg, Halden, Varberg, Bohus and Ragnhildsholmen. May you stand guard for another thousand of years to come."
