Thor Holvila 2401-01

Thors comment:

"It's rare to get the glaze exactly the way you want it on a pot, but here I succeeded beyond expectations. Standing on four feet, this pot gives you eight fronts to choose from and has a touch of patina to it, even though it has never been used. The only smokiness in the beaker is a fire crack at one of the drainage holes. This crack I filed and filled with glaze so that the pot is whole and can be covered by my warranty.

  • About this edition

THOR EDITIONS is handmade, unique and numbered pots that are released once a month under a dedicated theme

"I am Swedish on my mother's side and Finnish on my father's side and Thor is the name of the Scandinavian god of thunder. In Finland, his name is Perkele, which is a nickname for Ukko, which Christianity later made synonymous with the devil. Hence the Finnish profanity "Satana Perkele!" To me he is like Thor the god of the people and the farmers. He rides across the thundering sky and lets the rain fall on the harvest and brings forth life. This month I have therefore devoted myself to sculptured pots with Perkele in mind. What could be a better theme for pots to house a tree than the life-giving god?"
