Thor Holvila 2604-01
Thors comment:
"I have long wanted to combine ironwork with ceramics. This stand is in untreated hand-forged iron and should be oiled if you choose to use it together with the separate Skull pot, which is probably the largest skull I have ever made. The leaves on the stand are a common tradition in Värmland county where the tree of life is often depicted in hand-forged gravestones of iron. See photo from Ekshärad cemetery, the county where this tripod also originates from and was purchased by me at an antique shop. The skull pot is glazed in a flowing white glaze with touches of blue and green. The connection to the cemetery theme is the death of winter. From the dead rises the living.

THOR ABOUT THE EDITION - ”Blom”
”I didn't think when I started working on the new edition at the beginning of April that we would have such a sunny month as we have had. In southern Sweden the meadows are in full bloom, but at our cabin in the mountains snow is still falling. I have tried to include these exciting contrasts in this month's glaze with green, pink and yellow against a white background. The "crown jewel" of the month is a huge skull cascade that can stand both on its own or in the hand-forged iron stand. The graphic sheet of the month goes in black and white and depicts some of my trademark models.”
