Thors comment:
"This is perhaps the most decorative pot in this edition. The painted decor is in a style we call "kurbits" in Sweden, painted with cobalt blue underglaze. It has plenty of wiring holes both on the sides and along the rim, and also in the bottom where it also has a drainage hole. It's a very heavy and robust pot that would function well for a taller tree. The depth also makes it very good for fruit trees and flowering trees.”
About this edition: on the edition: "GROWING POTS”
Why shouldn’t a growing pot be beautiful and made out of stoneware?
Why should a growing be something you simply hide away while your tree is developing?
With this edition, I have designed a collection of pots specifically for growing and training bonsai trees, giving them the space, lots of wiring holes, and conditions they need to grow strong before eventually being planted into a bonsai pot. These are the same pots I use for my own trees, I usually use them freeland as well.
I have deliberately given these pots an expression that clearly separates them from bonsai pots. They are not meant to imitate a finished bonsai container. They are growing pots and they are meant to look different.
This might become one of the most useful pots in your collection. Once you move your tree into its bonsai pot, you can simply reuse the growing pot for another tree.
And perhaps, instead of being hidden away somewhere in the garden during the growing years, it will have a place of its own right in the centre of your garden.
This is the first time I have created a collection like this, and I am very curious to see what you think of it, and whether you will appreciate the idea as much as I do.
